Q: What kind of wood do you use to manufacture your furniture?

A: We use high class oak wood that is in a responsible manner. Our timber suppliers have FSC certificate that demonstrates that the forestland is managed with great consideration for nature conservation.

 

Q: How is the furniture packed?

A: Most of our furniture is delivered flat-packed in boxes with full assembly instructions and require nothing more than basic tools such as a screwdriver or a wrench to put them together.

All fixings are included, so in most cases, the furniture can be assembled within a few minutes by a single person. Few items are delivered fully assembled e.g. Drinks Trolley, Stool, Western Armchair.

 

Q: How is the furniture finished?

A: We use matt wood stains and oils (colorless or rustic oak) which soak into bare timber to provide a protective coat.

 

Q: Can I leave the furniture out year round?

A: Yes, you can, however the furniture kept inside or under some kind of roofing will last for years without maintenance. The items kept outside, especially during winter, gradually lose their protective coat and naturally turn a silvery-grey tone when left unattended. Therefore we strongly advice you storing the furniture inside or covering during winter to avoid unnecessary weather damage.

 

Q: How should I maintain my furniture?

A: The furniture used under a roof will not require any maintenance. You only occasionally need to clean it with a soft cloth lightly dipped in wood oil.

The timber kept outside requires a systematic maintenance at least once a year: dry the furniture thoroughly, clean it and work on it with sand paper (grit 100-200) before applying the new finish. Then treat it with light-colored preservative wood stain or wood oil.

Alternatively, you may leave the furniture unattended and only sometimes wash it with a brush and mild soap. In this way it will naturally turn silvery-grey.

Regardless of the chosen way of maintaining the furniture, we strongly advise coating it with wood oil several times. Its deep penetration protects timber against extensive drying and decreases cracking of surface.

 

Q: Do you offer a guarantee?

A: All Alfresia products are guaranteed for months to be free from defects in workmanship and materials in normal domestic use.
This guarantee excludes damage from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse or normal weathering.
In the unlikely event that you have a problem, we endeavour to resolve it quickly and suggest that initially you email a picture to us. Any fault will be repaired or replaced as appropriate but at our discretion.
